The best of 2012

It was so fun to go back through my blog posts and see how much has changed, in my style and in my
life.

I picked a few of my favorite pictures, not only because of what I was wearing, but also because of the memories the pictures remind me of.

My life has changed so much this year! New job, new apartment in a new city, new school, and a LOT of new hair.

I can not wait to continue this journey of documenting bits and pieces of my life.

Thanks you so much for being apart of it, and always for the kindest of words and encouragement along the way.

Now let's get drunk!
( I had to counter that cheese ball fest)

Happy New Year!!!!!!

Pink Skies & Red Pants

Top: Daydreamer LA -Via Urban Outfitters, Jacket: Oasis (Similar style), Trousers: Merona-Via Target, Flats: Kimchi Blue- Via Urban Outfitters, Clutch: gifted, Necklace: F21

The many joys of living by the beach are always the stunning sunsets.
At the edge of my apartment complex there is the most amazing look out spot equipped with a bench for some serious viewing pleasure. It looks over the back bay and on the clearest of days you can even see Catalina (the mountain-esque thing in the back).
It's always breathtaking, and constantly reminds me what a sap I am when it comes to pretty colors.
 Pink skies are magical.

Dip Dye & Drop Waist

Dress: Janine Sudduth for UO, Tights: American Apparel, Boots: Splendid Clutch: Gifted (similar style)

The day before Christmas my sister and I found a cute restaurant close to my home that had an amazing view, and even better Bloody Mary’s. It was the perfect place to wear my new drop waist dress, that I stumbled upon while doing holiday shopping (Oops).  Thank goodness for So Cal weather for making it totally normal to wear dresses in the winter.

I hope you all had a great Holiday weekend!

Rain drops & Red lips

I was once told by my boss to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes to the office, as we were going to go through the warehouse that day. I had never been so stressed about what to wear in my life. I just couldn’t grasp the concept of wearing tennis shoes for reasons other than running. Clearly dressing down is not my forte.

I only bring this up because his weekend my family and I participated in a long lived tradition of decorating cookies and this is what I wore.

I know that baking isn’t usually the right environment for leather and dresses, but to me this is casual. I mean take away the red lips and it’s just an all black look.  In fact, take away the belt and beanie and it’s a bad hair day and a moomoo.

If you’re wondering where I’m getting at, so am I.

So I guess I’ll just leave you with this; red lips and few accessories is never a bad idea.

Fur on Fur

Sweater: Target, Vest: Urban Outfitters (old), Pants:H&M, Wedges: F21(borrowed by Meghan), Purse: Shoe dazzle (borrowed by Meghan)

As December rapidly embraces us with her icy hands, the layering of textiles begins.

During my recent trip to San Jose I was pleasantly surprised with the first feeling of winter (as the weekend before in so cal was 80 degrees).

It was the first of my bundling excursions, and in typical Kellen fashion, I went for all black and a pop of color.

However, Meghan (of Voila), made sure that wasn't the end of my layering. If you have ever seen her blog, you know that this fur collar is screaming her name....and yet is was the exact thing I needed (for warmth and style).

She also added a few extra fishing pieces, note: jewels, and little Daphne. I always say a dog might be a mans best friend, but they are always a girl best accessory.

Hope you are enjoying the December chill!
